Important Safety Information
Do not use Ohmni without first reading and understanding the following safety and handling recommendations.
Responsible Use
It is strongly advised that operators and users read, understand, and comply with this safety guide to mitigate the risk of personal injury, and damage to user property or robot. The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for damage which occurs outside of usage recommended in this manual.
It is the operators responsibility to ensure that usage of the Ohmni Robot is done within controlled conditions where bystanders are trained for safe behaviour around Ohmni, and that operation of Ohmni does not put anybody at risk.
ATTENTION:
Product warnings are listed in the sections below. Failure to adhere to the following warnings shall invalidate our warranty policy.
General:
- The Ohmni Robot is not intended for use by children under the age of 8 years. Children above the age of 8 years, and persons with reduced physical, sensory, and mental capabilities may use the robot if they have been fully supervised and trained to ensure safe operation of the Ohmni Robot with acknowledgment of the hazards involved
Operating Environment:
- Ohmni is only intended for use and storage in dry, indoor environments. Operation of Ohmni in areas outside of these conditions can lead to damage of the product. See Operating Environment.
- Ohmni is only rated for temperatures up to 40°C (104°F). Take care to use Ohmni in a controlled environment where temperatures do not exceed this limit, or the product may be subject to potential damage.
- Do not use Ohmni in an environment with flammable and exposed fumes, gases, or reactive material. Usage of any electric device in such conditions poses a significant safety risk.
- Do not use Ohmni in environments with exposed electrical circuits, or outlets on the floor.
- Ohmni is only intended for transport in its original shipping container and packaging. Transport of Ohmni outside of its container and without regular courier conditions can lead to damage of the product.

Usage:
- Do not put Ohmni under excessive pressure or load during rest or operation. Ohmni is only rated to carry up to a limit of 9kgs (20lbs) of weight on its base. Exceeding this allotted amount can cause damage to the product.
- Do not manually rotate, apply force, or move Ohmni's tablet.
- Do not place open liquids, hot materials, or fragile objects on the Ohmni Robot.
- Do not use Ohmni to drive into people, animals, or objects.
- Ohmni is not intended for use on rough, shaggy, or highly soft surfaces. Ensure that Ohmni is on appropriate surfaces for safe use.
- Be wary when using Ohmni near harsh ledges, stairs, steep slopes, or drop-offs on the flooring surface.
- Ohmni is only intended for upright use. Do not operate the robot in conditions that promote unstable driving of the robot.
- Only use Ohmni when the lighting conditions are adequate, do not drive when there is poor visibility of the surrounding environment.
- When driving up slopes or driving over small objects, ensure that Ohmni faces the small obstacle head-on.
- Do not drive Ohmni into overhanging obstacles that could cause instability of the robot platform, ie. tables, shelves etc.
Power Safety:
- The Ohmni Robot comes with a region approved power supply cord and is designed to be only plugged into a standard power outlet only. Do not use any different power supply cord. If the cord is torn or damaged, contact the OhmniLabs Support Team to ensure a correct replacement.
- Do not attempt to charge Ohmni through any unauthorized chargers or power supply.
- The Ohmni Dock can be plugged into standard 110V/220V power outlets and draws 1.5A in use. Use of any power converter will void warranty.
- In the event of common electrical storms, it is recommended to use a surge protector on the power outlet that the Ohmni Dock is plugged into.
- Use Ohmni with the installed battery only. Do not disassemble or modify the battery. Battery replacement is only necessitated and performed by the OhmniLabs Support Team. Personal modifications to the battery pose the extreme risk of excessive heat, explosion, or ignition.
- Do not immerse the Ohmni Robot or Ohmni Dock in any liquid during rest or operation.
- Risk of electric shock, use the Ohmni Dock and Robot in indoors and dry locations only.
Maintenance:
- When maintaining Ohmni, always ensure that Ohmni is powered off, off of the dock, and that you are grounded before touching any exposed electronics. For questions and guidance on maintenance, reach out to the OhmniLabs Support Team.
- To clean Ohmni use clean, debris-free cloths. Hospital grade wipes (ie. Oxivir Tb), can be used to sanitize Ohmni. Do not use liquid or harsh-cleaning agents to clean Ohmni.
- Do not disassemble Ohmni or the Home Base, contact OhmniLabs Support Team to receive qualified assistance.
- If a user notices any missing, broken, or malformed parts, stop usage of the robot and contact the OhmniLabs Support Team.
Collisions:
- Operators of Ohmni should ensure that Ohmni is not used as a tool to intentionally drive into, harm, or cause damage to other people or surrounding equipment. Operators and anybody near Ohmni should assume that the robot can move at any moment when in operation.
Falls:
Ohmni is built with a low centre of gravity and spread-out weight distribution in order to mitigate possibilities of falls. However, certain conditions can cause Ohmni to fall; which may harm surrounding people or equipment, and can cause damage to Ohmni itself.
Conditions |
Caution |
Holes, elevated grounds, balconies |
Ohmni cannot automatically detect cliff edges, and can be driven off of edges if neglected. Block areas with guardrails or ensure proper driving of Ohmni. |
Stairs or inclines |
Ohmni cannot be driven on stairs, or inclines > 10, <-10 degrees. |
Overhanging objects |
Take care that Ohmni is not backed-up into protruding objects, as this will likely cause a fall. |
Loose or uneven surfaces |
Take care that Ohmni is not driven on surfaces with small objects or long threads that Ohmni’s wheels could get caught in. |
Transportation:
Ohmni is designed to be mobile and ready to transport. The robot can be folded to a compact form, only weighs 20lbs. However, it is recommend that Ohmni is transported inside its shipping box with original packaging, and is not left in any vehicle (ie. car, SUV, truck) for longer than 10-15 minutes unattended.
Any damages that result from user-facilitated transport of Ohmni falls outside of our Warranty policy.
If Ohmni must be transported, users must be cognizant of Ohmni’s Operating environment, and is recommended to have Ohmni contained in its original packaging to prevent any product damage. Please see this video guide on “How to package Ohmni”, or contact support@ohmnilabs.com for further assistance.
