Onsite TURN Servers allow your business to run a WebRTC TURN server on your own servers to comply with your organization's data and workload regulation requirements.
This feature is an optional add-on available to all OCS accounts.
What is a TURN server?
The Ohmni’s WebRTC connection relies on 3 different connection types, depending on the location of the caller in relation to the Ohmni. These types are local, STUN, and relayed connections. For more information on these different types, please refer to our Ohmni Network Admin Guide.
The relayed connection endpoints are behind complex network topology or firewalls. This data goes through our TURN servers and are “relayed” to each endpoint. This type of connection allows those who are a significant distance from the Ohmni able to use it, as well as allowing secure contact behind a firewall or proxy.
The OhmniLabs TURN servers are currently located in the US West Coast, US East Coast, Tokyo, Sydney, and Frankfurt. With Onsite TURN Servers, you have the ability to host your own TURN servers in your chosen location to comply with the security requirements of your organization. With the utility of an Onsite TURN server, data passed in an Ohmni call will be maintained in your designated geographical location.
